Its been a tradition for Filipinos overseas to send Balikbayan boxes or packages as presents to family in the Philippines usually in times like Christmas or New Year. The contents of these boxes sometimes includes canned goods, chocolates, clothing and apparel and other products. There’s been reports about some of the cargo firms are fraud and not delivering at all, some have delays which is very annoying. There are so many dramas on some that’s why before sending box , one must double check the firm’s background, feedback and its profile if it is reliable enough.
Where does my balikbayan boxes went?
Last year 2012, I sent one to my family back home through EMG Express. I dropped off my box in Shepparton Area, 2 hours away from Melbourne in which its one of their pick up location. We paid AUD 120 for a Jumbo box and there is no weight limit as long as the box won’t collapse. They promised us that box will be delivered to our province in six weeks times and Voilà! , 100% feedback, they are so reliable and always on time even if that time there is a typhoon raging in the Philippines. Last year 2013 was a different story, since we’re used to send box every year we decided to send it on Month of December. This time EMG Express is no longer on the pick up agent. A different cargo firm was there so we have no choice but to try this one, its name is called BMExpress. We filled the box up and dropped off at the pick up location in Shepparton at the end of November. It was picked up by the second week of December so the estimated time would be 7 weeks it will be delivered. This year I tried to give them a call in the last week of January and followed up on what is the status of our box, they said it will be delivered at the end of the month. So, my family waited, one week passed no sign of box yet so I decided to ring them again. Person on the telephone said they will have it checked and followed up and they will give me a call back once they confirmed where it is. Five days passed I haven’t received any call from them as what they have promised to give me a call back. I was so impatient and at the same time annoyed, I rang them again on January & 2014 which is Friday. Oh! there is a sign of hope, they said it will be delivered the next day. I was so happy and excited knowing they will deliver it at last. The next day, I texted family back home to stay home because the box is coming. They waited the whole day and oh c’mon where my box gone? Since it is weekend I cannot ring them, so I waited until Monday. I gave them a call Monday and the same thing happen they promised to checked and give me a call back, the day finished and my phone was as quite as a cemetery. These has been the most annoying thing ever, they were saying they were so busy that sometimes forgot to ring customers back. Well, they should have add more employees to cater its customers need. This time I will give them 20% delivery time and 1% customer service. It is just a lesson learned, hopefully it will be delivered this month. This thing for sure , I will not transact business with BMExpress again.
